While we admit that flip-flops were a disturbing footwear trend to embrace initially, we were eventually charmed by the ease with which the toe thongs can remain slipped on and off and the fresh air they provide our feet on a sweltering day.

The humble sandal, once reserved for a post-pedicure errand, resurfaced from the early 2000s camp scene on the runways of Isabel Marant and Michael Kors in the fall of 2017 before making several appearances among show-goers outside of Men’s Fashion Week and at Copenhagen Fashion Week the following year. During that time, They appeared in a flimsy, beach-ready form that did little to keep the bottom of the foot away from a filthy city street. Podiatrists, on the other hand, are overjoyed because they’ve since evolved to become chunkier and more supportive.

The Row, Rag & Bone, and Zimmermann debuted leather pairs with extra cushiony insoles for Spring 2020. Luxury footwear labels such as Ancient Greek Sandals, Atp Atelier, and Reike Nen were quick to respond with their platform versions, as were classic beach shoe brands such as Havaianas and Ipanema. Of course, we’ve chosen our favourite platform, flip-flops, which come in various colours and prices.

As the temperature drops, it’s no surprise that our favourite pop star Dua Lipa has fled the bitter cold to warm up in Miami, where she was recently spotted wearing a summer-ready ensemble.

The Future Nostalgia singer and Service 95 founder remained spotted with friends at The Setai in Miami Beach, where she snacked on watermelon and read Khaled Hosseini’s A Thousand Splendid Suns. She wore a black thong bikini to the beach, which she layered with a sheer and cutout swim cover-up. The striped set included a halter top and a midi skirt that showed off her midriff and coordinated with her other outfits, her emerald green manicure, and pedicure

Dua Lipa’s love of platforms extends beyond combat boots and loafers. As she accessorized her summer look with the ultimate throwback sandals. A pair of Copernic Y2K-inspired platform flip-flops. In addition, the “We’re Good” singer accessorized her beach look with bedazzled sunglasses, Telfar silver hoops, a Cartier watch, and colourful chunky rings.
